My Friend Is Learning to Read

My little ELL student is learning to read more rapidly than I could have imagined. I've never taught basic phonics and primary reading, but I know it doesn't go this fast unless the student is really really bright. I think she is gifted, but we don't even have a test that would assess that in her case.
